About Your Body....

I believe that there isn't an ideal body shape. Whatever body your shape is in; that's perfect for you. I do believe in dressing in silhouettes that flatter your figure and staying away from clothing that does not radiate your confidence. With that said, I'm going to do a 4 part series on dressing for your body.

Let's start with the 4 basic shapes.

Hourglass: This shape is about symmetry. The shoulders (bust) and hips are proportioned to the fullness of the hips and thighs. The waist is defined. Marilyn Monroe, Salma Hayek, and Kristina Hendricks have variations of this shape.

Rectangle: You know those billowy tops? They were created based on this shape! Shoulders and hips are the same size and the waist is undefined. Usually called the "boyish" figure or "waif" look. Kate Moss,Victoria Beckham, Cameron Diaz are famous folks with this frame.

Inverted Triangle: Creating balance in the broadness of shoulders and full bust with  narrow hips and undefined waist is the goal for this silhouette.  This is also know as the "apple" shape. Sherri Shepard, Katherine Zeta Jones, and Demi Moore are Inverted Triangles.

Triangle: Songs about derrieres were created with this figure in mind. Shoulders and bust are narrow and small with a well defined waist and full hips and thighs. AKA the "pear". Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Lopez,  and Kristin Davis play into their Triangle shapes well.

There are petite hourglasses and full-figured rectangles. There are inverted triangles that are very slim. These "Shapes" are just a guide for dressing to compliment your figure. The multitude of variations of body shapes are as endless as the hues in a sunset.

For the next 4 weeks, I'm doing a post dedicated to each figure with suggestions of clothing styles and colors that compliment the unique qualities that every body possesses.

After 10 years in business as a Wardrobe Consultant, I want to share the knowledge I've acquired from each session with my clients. PLEASE, email me your questions or concerns!
